Pret-a-Porter: Easy Care Tablecloths

By Carolina — June 19, 2010

Believe it or not, for the first ten years at Gracious Style, we did not have a single collection of everyday table linens which had any kind of synthetic content.  Everything we carried was either cotton, linen, or a cotton/linen blend.  We would have certainly liked to have a non-iron alternative, but we just didn’t find anything which had the  softness and subdued elegance we love in traditional cotton or linen.

Finally, last year, we found several new collections, including the Orchard damask from Sferra, which feels like the softest cotton and comes in five colors …

… the Palace, with a classic medallion motif on a soft gold background, also in a cotton/polyester blend …

… and the Royal, with a classic oversized damask design in cotton/polyester:

Those worked great for year-end, but for more casual events we knew everyone was looking for more colorful linens that were perfect for everyday use.  Recently, we found a really nice collection called the Polylin, made by Libeco Home, a small Belgian company that specializes in high quality linen products:

It is available in eighteen gorgeous colors, including apricot, blue sky, corn, and grass green.

The Polylin is the first collection we have ever had that combines Belgian linen (55%) and polyester (45%).  When you touch it, it will feel crisp and supple like Belgian linen, but the polyester makes it a breeze to use.  You can wash it, take it out of the dryer while it’s still a bit damp, and it will dry nicely and be ready to use without ironing.

This is perfect for carefree entertaining.  We hope you have wonderful weekend.  We are doing a Father’s Day grill; how about you?
