On our last trip to New York, we met with a new company called Prouna which specializes in creating exquisite dinnerware encrusted with Swarovski crystals.  We loved that Kamran Bahadorzadeh, the founder of the U.S. branch of the company, actually first chanced upon the line in Korea while he was looking for a gift for his 30th wedding anniversary.  The pieces were a huge success with his wife and friends, and now he and his two daughters have brought Prouna to the U.S.

Prouna’s pieces are for special occasion dining, and they are extraordinary.  Every piece in the collection – every plate, teacup, and saucer – is adorned with Swarovski crystals and plated with 24 kt gold or platinum.

Until now, the technology for creating water-resistant, crystal-encrusted dinnerware had not existed, so we are very excited to be able to bring these brand new collections to you. Prouna’s dinnerware is made by the renowned Hankook factory in Korea, which also makes dinnerware for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Royal Copenhagen.

Inspired by the elegance and majesty of a royal wedding, Princess is elegant and timeless.  Each piece is wrapped with an intricate veil of silk-like platinum and bejeweled with gemstones of pure ice.

The Prouna Jewelry dinnerware collection – so called because it is hand encrusted with crystals – has been tested for 800 washing cycles and proven to be dishwasher safe.  However, as  with all fine bone china, we recommend hand washing, primarily to preserve the gold and platinum plating.  Also, when storing Prouna china,  we suggest lining each with a felt liner in order to prevent the crystals from scratching the glaze.
