Determining Quality

What quality should I look for in bath linens?
Material is the most important consideration when purchasing bath linens. Almost all fine towels are made from natural fibers such as cotton or microfiber. Cotton (especially Egyptian and Turkish terrycloth) is popular because it is very absorbent and strong and it wears well. Microfiber (high performance fibers that resist shedding and piling) are increasingly popular because they are even more absorbent than cotton and significantly lighter in weight.

As with all fine linens, all designs in bath linens must be precisely executed, all colors uniform, and all seams must be finished evenly and correctly.

What is terry cloth?
Terry refers to the looped pile you see on most towels. The longer and more tightly packed these loops are, the more absorbent and durable the towel. Terry cloth towels are absorbent because the looped pile in the terry acts like very small sponges.

What is microfiber?
Microfiber is an ultrafine fiber that naturally resists shedding and pilling. Compared with other materials, microfibers are twice as fine as silk and three times finer than cotton. Items made from microfiber are extremely absorbent, soft, and lightweight.

What does grams/meter mean?
This measurement refers to the weight of the towel material. The heavier the weight, the cozier and heavier the towel will feel. All of the Gracious Style towel collections are over 600 grams/meter, assuring you a luxurious feel and durable absorbency no matter which style you choose.

Choosing a Size

What are standard towel sizes?
Gracious Style towel collections feature oversized towels for your comfort. Sizes will vary among different collections, but they are generally as follow:

Bath Towel 27" x 55"
Bath Sheet 47" x 59"
Hand Towel 24" x 41"
Guest Towel 16" x 24"
Washcloth 13" x 13"
Bath Mat 24" x 35"
Shower Curtain 72" x 72"

Why do I need so many towels in different sizes?
As a general rule, washcloths are for washing your face or removing makeup, hand/guest/fingertip towels are for drying your hands, and bath towels or bath sheets are for drying off after a bath or shower.

What are linen hand towels?
Gracious Style's collections of linen hand towels are luxurious accents for the bathroom or any room in the house. In most cases, they are beautifully embroidered on pure linen and designed to stand out next to your terry towels. Linen hand towels are wonderful wedding and housewarming presents.

Do you sell bathrobes?
Yes. Gracious Style is proud to offer

Design Tips

What style and color of bath linens should I choose?
There are no rules when it comes to choosing your bathroom décor. Gracious Style offers solid and embroidered bath linens to complement any color scheme or preference. White linens generally leave a fresh and crisp impression, while colored linens are a great way to accent a room.

Monogramming

How should I monogram my towels?
Single-letter monograms usually feature the first initial of the last name. On three-letter monograms, most individuals choose to have their first, middle, and last or first, last, and middle initials embroidered. For married couples, a popular choice is the initials of the couple's first names on either side of their married last name. Alternatively, embroidered designs such as crowns or wreaths are also ideal for personalizing linens. Gracious Style is also proud to custom digitize and monogram any design you choose.

Where should I monogram my towels?
Towels are usually monogrammed several inches from the bottom edge as follows:

Wash Cloth/Guest Towel 2" from bottom edge
Hand Towel 3" from bottom edge
Bath Towel 4" from bottom edge
Bath Sheet 5" from bottom edge
Bath Mat Center
Shower Curtain 15" from top hem
Gracious Style will, of course, place your monogram anywhere you wish.

What style of monogramming do you recommend on bath linens?
We generally recommend choosing a style that is in keeping with your decor. For classic rooms, we suggest a timeless font such as the Script or the Diamond. For a more contemporary look, the Delano is a modern take on the classic Script. Fanciful monograms like the Palace Scroll and Claridge appear more prominent on plain linens. Keep in mind that some monograms are only available in one-letter styles while others can be embroidered in two or three-letter styles.

Care and Storage

How do I care for my bath linens?
You should always wash new towels before using them. Wash with a mild detergent in warm water and then tumble dry. Do not wash with other laundry, as shedding or "linting" almost always occurs with new towels. We also suggest avoiding using bleaches or fabric softeners.

How do I store my bath linens?
Due to the continuous use and laundering of bath linens you can simply fold and store them in your linen closet.
